SKULPTUR PROJEKTE MÜNSTER
Seit 1977 finden im Turnus von zehn Jahren die international ausgerichteten Skulptur Projekte in Münster statt. Künstlerinnen werden eingeladen, ortsbezogene Arbeiten zu entwickeln – bildhauerische, genauso wie temporäre Installationen oder Performances.
Die realisierten Projekte schreiben sich in die baulichen, historischen und gesellschaftlichen Kontexte der Stadt ein, gleichzeitig weisen sie darüber hinaus: Themen der globalen Gegenwart und Reflexionen über den Begriff Skulptur fließen in die künstlerischen Auseinandersetzungen ebenso ein wie Fragen zum Verhältnis von öffentlichem und privatem Raum in Zeiten zunehmender Digitalisierung.
Künstlerischer Leiter der Skulptur Projekte ist Kasper König. Gemeinsam mit den Kuratorinnen Britta Peters, freie Ausstellungsmacherin aus Hamburg, und Marianne Wagner, Kuratorin für Gegenwartskunst am LWL-Museum für Kunst und Kultur, Münster, entsteht das Ausstellungskonzept zur 5. Ausgabe der Skulptur Projekte. Die folgende Bildstrecke zeigt Szenen aus den Vorbereitungen.
The internationally oriented Skulptur Projekte has been taking place in Münster at regular tenyear intervals since 1977. Artists are invited to develop site-specific works – sculptural works as well as temporary installations or performances. The projects realized in this framework inscribe themselves in the structural, historical and social contexts of the city while at the same time pointing beyond them: themes related to the global present and reflections on the concept of sculpture are as much an integral part of the artistic explorations as questions about the relationship between public and private space in times of increasing digitalization. The artistic director of the the fifth edition of the Skulptur Projekte is Kasper König, who is working with Britta Peters, a free-lance curator based in Hamburg, and Marianne Wagner, the curator of contemporary art at the LWL-Museum für Kunst und Kultur, Münster to develop the exhibition concept for fifth edition of the Skulptur Projekte.
